Free Guided Meditation

Meet a Guide: Free Guided Meditation.

This meditation, which is about 19 minutes long and free to download, is designed to help you contact a guide — such as your higher self, a spirit guide, a relative who has passed to the Other Side, or even spiritual beings such as angels or gods, depending on your level of vibration.

I’ve described a lot of my visualizations at length on this blog, and many people have told me that they enjoy reading them and wish that they had similar experiences when meditating. I wondered if there was some way that I could help people get the same benefit that I’ve had from this practice.

In this meditation, I lead you gently into a relaxed state, and then take you through a series of images designed to help you feel happy and fearless and loving. Only then do I bring you to a place where you can meet a guide. If the meditation is successful, you will have no chance of meeting any awful beasties, and — if not immediately, then with practice — you should be able to establish a good connection with Spirit.

You can go into this meditation with a particular guide or spirit in mind that you want to meet with. Alternatively, you can simply see who shows up! If there are guides with good intentions out there who wish to contact you, then they will probably jump at this chance to communicate with you.

Don’t be too disappointed, and don’t give up, if you can’t contact anyone on your first try. Like anything worthwhile, meditation takes practice, and it can take some getting used to. Repeat the meditation several times and you should find your results improving.

Please let me know how it goes, and don’t be afraid to comment, or let me know where you’ve had trouble. Here is some feedback I’ve gotten on it:

  • The first time Kara-Leah tried it, she met a different kind of guide: “My four year old self turned up… we chased each other around the bench and played in the flowers and climbed the tree and had a chat… it was wonderful.” She has enjoyed the meditation so much that she performs it weekly, and has started using it with her yoga students.
  • Slade said, “Your voice is wonderfully suited to this format. Your voice is warm, calming, authoritative, benevolent…”. He has a lot of experience meeting guides, but he found that the meditation opened him up to enable him to receive a message from someone else’s guide who had been trying to reach him.

Enjoy! The meditation is 18.5 minutes long and 22MB.

Jeff, what a wonderful voice and meditation. I met my paternal grandmother in the flower garden. When you were discribing the flower garden I knew who would be waiting for me. My grandmother had the most beautiful flower garden when I was a little girl. She gave me her blessing. She told me that I have had many great teachers and accomplished a lot in this lifetime. She told me that I have other teachers and other lessons still coming before this lifetime ends. She was pleased that I am writing. She told me to tell my story. She left before your alloted time in the meditation and so I just continued to sit on the bench and enjoy the sun and the sound of the waves.

It was a beautiful meditation. I will listen to it again and I look forward to hearing more of your meditations. Thank you for sharing this wonderful talent of yours with me.

Patricia, I am deeply moved and thankful that I was able to help you reach your grandmother in this way. I am so very glad! Your journey has indeed been a marvelous one. Thank you!

  3. Peter Ó Gamhna Says:

I downloaded this meditation earlier tonight - I am new to the path of the Druid, having only recently begun to explore it after a ’spiritual awakening’ of sorts. I decided to give this a try and it was one of the most interesting and baffling experiences of my life. Firstly, I would like to say ‘Thank you!’: but I also have a quick question or two, if you would not mind answering me.

Does the appearance of the Spirit change from person-to-person? In my meditation, the spirit was somewhat blurred (likely because it was my first attempt) and almost…distant. But he claimed to be Apollo, yet he did not look like Apollo. So I would just like to know, if you hold the answer: does appearance actually matter? Can appearance of the spirit differ from person-to-person?

    Thank you!

  4. Jeff Lilly Says:

Peter, you’re very welcome! I frequently find meditations to be baffling at first — sometimes it’s a lot like dream interpretation. But sometimes the most baffling ones are the most profound when you finally puzzle them out.

Appearance of Spirit can definitely change from person to person. In my next Druid Journal blog post, in fact, I’ll give an example of a spirit named “Bel” that appears as a woman to me, but appears as a man to my friend Slade! We’re not sure why that is, but most likely it’s because Bel is rather ambiguous gender-wise anyway. I’ll go into it more there. (BTW: Slade and I are reasonably certain that we’re contacting the same entity because of other things, like attitude and color associations, that match up.)

How, then, can you be sure if you’re contacting Apollo? Two ways that I know of. First, if the entity claims to be Apollo, AND is otherwise truthful, helpful, and insightful, then you have a good reason to believe what s/he says. Second, when gods appear, they generate a tremendous amount of love and other high vibrational emotions. If you experience this when speaking to “Apollo”, that’s a major hint that you’ve contacted the Real Deal.

Thanks for trying the meditation, and definitely keep me posted on your progress!

I see. Thank you for answering my question, Jeff. As you requested, here’s a little update:

I tried the meditation again, mere moments ago. I didn’t physically relax quite as much, but I think that’s to do with the temperature in the room. I may try opening up a window from now on. Mentally, the vision (as I now call it) was more vivid, although this time my sense of smell was reduced. As you were describing the parts of warmth and light filling my body, I physically felt something - as though there was an energy encompassing my body. I have trouble physically imagining things sometimes, and I missed a step occasionally - but I noticed that if I took that step suddenly, the energy would continue to surround me. The relaxation definitely works - I felt virtually numb afterwards.

I again met the figure who claimed to be Apollo. I asked him his name again and, once more, he called himself Apollo. He appeared as an old man again, and his features were more vivid. This time I noted that I didn’t actually physically hear his words, it was instead like I heard my own thoughts. I once more asked him why I saw he when I do not believe in him, and at first he had some difficulty getting me to understand, untill he told me that every deity is a singular CONCEPT, yet an INDIVIDUAL part of that concept. I also questioned him on his appearance. He said that although he does have a classical appearance, I am seeing what I think Apollo is, what I feel Apollo is - not an original model of him. I also kept an eye (or rather, soul) out for these ‘high vibrational emotions’ you spoke of. I don’t know what to call it, but when he came I felt…well, I suppose you could say at peace. Even when I did not understand what he said, I was not confused or baffled - I seemed somewhat happy, peaceful and calm, and just accepted that I did not understand in hopes he would explain more. Afterwards, I felt rejuvenated - I had been somewhat tired before hand, and I suddenly felt strong again.

One very interesting observation I noticed: my body seemed to react as well. Firstly, once I reached the garden and the spirit, I started to physically see bright white light that seemed to fluctuate - as though clouds were over it. It was like when you close your eyes, and then look into a bright light with them - you see some of the light even though your eyes are closed. I also noticed that I have one or two muscle spasms, specifically in my legs and fingers. Finally, I observed my eyes moving rapidly - as though in Rapid Eye Movement sleep (the state where we dream), yet I was not asleep. Could these be effects of the spirit or the meditation perhaps? I also feel strange afterwards - somewhat surreal - for a period of time.

All in all, a truly fascinating and touching experience. Once more Jeff, I should like to thank you from my heart: you may have well forever changed the way I see myself, others, the Earth and the universe - and it seems to be for the better! I’m going to continue with the meditation regularly, see what else develops. I’m still sceptical, I still wonder if it’s all in my head, but I’m approaching it with an open mind. With luck I shall find answers and a new understanding of spirituality and, indeed, the world as I know it!

Peter, it’s wonderful that you’re continuing to get such great results! Your physical reactions — REM, muscle spasms, the light, the numbness — are especially interesting; you do seem to be locking in both visual and kinesthetic input. I wonder what would happen if you focused even more on the “feelings” in the meditation — the temperatures, the sand underfoot, the breezes, etc.? I’m glad he was able to clear up his nature somewhat for you; I confess I’m still baffled myself. Apollo tried to explain it somewhat in his interview with me this past midsummer, and I didn’t really “get” it then, either. Sometimes I think I understand in brief flashes…

I agree that an open mind is best! I don’t think Apollo or other spiritual entities care particularly whether you “believe” in them, as long as you’re listening. :-) Definitely keep me informed!

While sitting on a bench my deceased brother Denham showed up. He was wearing a white linen robe. After he died on my 15th birthday, he was 19, I had a dream of him standing on a chatham emerald cliff with crystal cascading waterfall underneath, we danced the waltz. So, he showed up and took my hand. Then a “scraggly” looking old man in worn jeans and old shirt showed up. He had a beard. I was nervous, “I don’t know him”…he took my other hand, “I’m your great great great grandfather”. I thought, which side of family. He said, Walker. They didn’t say anything to me. They held my hand and just listened to me as I told them my concerns and problems. They didn’t answer. Just held my hand and listened with a smile. So, maybe if I go back they will speak to me and I’ll just sit and listen??

Hello! I have a request - I would really like to try this meditation but I’m not English native and I can’t understand few words there. If you are willing to provide transcription of the meditation, I’ll be really thankful.

  16. Sonja Says:

finally got the download for the meditation on meeting your guide. I did the meditation last night, meet up with more than one, requested that when they are with me that they give me a signal. I had also requested they keep away any negative energy/entity and one in particular ( a geart great gransmother - who was know to be very nasty and mean) Afterwards I slept like a baby, best sleep I had since I was a teen, no tossing or turning.

This morning before work I was sitting on my couch waiting to leave and to my delight had a fragrance of a bouquet of flowers in my loungeroom, and I knew instintively it was from one of my guide and it made me feel soooo gooood!!!

When I arrived home later in the day after being sent home on annual leave I decided to meditate again as I have ample time this morning and not only did my group show, but to my delight a lion showed and a dog as well( this dog, her name was sheba) felt like my first ever dog here in Australia and my mum and dad showed too!!!! I dare say it was a most emotional time ( happy), i still have a tear in my eye telling you this.

Mum and dad didn’t say anything but i felt their smile.

During meditation I don’t see anything at all, but I feel and sense presence and i can feel the emotions aswell. I have struggled for years to “see” or “visualize” I have come to the conclusion that it will happen when it does and now I am relaxed and happy to feel. sense, what is happening in the spiritual :))
