December 2006 Astrological Forecast
I am not a professional astrologer, but I learned my signs and transits on my mother’s knee. I have gone back and forth in my belief in astrology — my belief was probably strongest in high school, and weakest a few years ago when I was trying to “grow up” and act like a real responsible adult. (That failed, by the way. Nowadays I’m a lot happier and making more money, too.) As for right now –
I strongly suspect there’s something to it. I don’t think that the planets “cause” events here on Earth; I’ve heard it said that the effect of the electromagnetic and gravitational field of, say, Jupiter on a newborn child is dwarfed by the electromagnetic and gravitational fields of the midwife or doctor in attendance. The effect of the sun and moon is more plausible (if the gravity of the moon can cause tides, lifting up untold tons of water to a manheight, do you think it has no effect on your brain?), but even in that case, I think it’s more likely that the planetary movements simply correspond with human affairs rather than causing them. Think of it as an orchestra: the woodwinds play one set of notes, the brass play another set, the strings a third set; the instruments do not cause each other to play, and yet correspondences and patterns are there, and they are not only in the mind of the observer.
All of which is just to urge caution if you decide to read what follows! Reading one’s horoscope is not like reading the weather report. Most people agree you can’t cause the weather by expecting it to rain, but you can cause a bad day if you’ve got low expectations for it.
So! What follows is a list of major transits in December, with meanings I’ve assigned. Remember that I’m not a professional astrologer, that you should approach every day with a positive and open attitude regardless of the prediction, that your personal astrological transits could be quite different from what’s below, and astrology might be bunk anyway. Use with caution. Be sure to consult a licensed astrological practictioner before embarking on this or any precognitional exercise program.
Dec. 5: Full moon. Start of a time of contraction, endings.
Dec. 6: Saturn retrograde. A time for discipline, hard work, grounding. (Lasts until April.)
Dec. 9: Sun sextile Neptune. A favorable aspect for creative work, dreamwork.
Dec. 12: Mars conjunct Jupiter. A time of high energy and activity, favorably indicated.
Dec. 16/17: Sun trine Saturn. An especially good day for getting things done.
Dec. 18: Sun conjunct Pluto. A time for exploring self-knowledge and transformation.
Dec. 20: New moon. Expansion, new beginnings.
Dec. 22: Mars square Uranus. Accidents: too much energy combined with too much appetite for activity.
That last one worries me. We sure have a lot of things planned for the Solstice this year…
